Attention Newspaper Lovers

Can't start the day without the morning paper? You may be just the person we are looking for.

Despite its quiet exterior, there is always something happening in the Otautau area, and some of it makes the newspapers - from the fire at the mill to the Yike Bike.

At the museum, we have an archive of newspaper clippings that we hope will become a valuable resource for future generations. It will hold the stories of our people, places and events.

We've had good a donation of clippings from the 1960s, a smattering of stories from the '70s, '80s, and '90s, and a earnest helping from the last decade. But we need your help to keep our archive current.

If you still love reading newspapers - AND - you can spot an Otautau (Aparima, Fairfax, Scotts Gap etc) story a mile away - AND - you know how to use a pair of scissors, we would like to hear from you. All we ask is that you clip out local stories, note with a pencil the date and newspaper they came from, and give them to us so that we can add them to the archive.

The next time you sit down for your daily read, grab your scissors and start lookin'.

We're open Wednesdays and Sundays, 2pm-4pm, and by request. Your comments are always welcome!
