Winton Probus Visit

About 22 members of the Men's Winton Probus Group visited the museum today.
Peter Campbell, our Display Manager, was on hand to show folks around the display on Isla Bank.
Peter Teviotdale (left) comes from a long line of Teviotdales and Tavendales from Scotland. They originally started during the gold rush days and eventually found their way to Isla Bank.
Group visits are wonderfully stimulating and we welcome anyone who wants to bring their group (big or small) to the museum.

We're open Wednesdays and Sundays, 2pm-4pm, and by request. Your comments are always welcome!

Book Sale

Speaking of fundraisers, our annual booksale is coming up on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of August. This a joint fundraiser to benefit the Otautau Heritage Trust and ourselves. If you have books to donate, please drop them off at the Otautau SDC office (176 Main Street).

The sale will be open from 10am to 4pm both days and will be held in the Courthouse (146 Main Street). There is usually something for everyone so come along and bring a friend.

We're open Wednesdays and Sundays, 2pm-4pm, and by request. Your comments are always welcome!

Tablecloth Update

Last weekend, Isla Bank residents (former and present) came from far and wide for afternoon tea at the museum. Thankfully, someone answered our question about the tablecloth - the occasion it was made for and so on. It was made by Bessie Johnstone as a fundraiser for the Association of Presbyterian Women. You could have your signature embroidered on it for a shilling.

It's always so good when people gather at the museum. There is usually someone who comes out of the woodwork and gives us the background on an object or photograph that we have questions about.

Special thanks to Georgie Carter and everyone else who made the day a great success.

We're open Wednesdays and Sundays, 2pm-4pm, and by request. Your comments are always welcome!
