This month marks the 25th anniversary of the 1984 Southland flood. Otautau was severely affected, with several hundred people needing to be evacuated and the businesses on main street entirely flooded.
The museum is putting together a small display of the 1984 flood as well as pictures of the Big Flood of 1913, and some of the 1935 and 1947 floods. If you have a story or photo to share of any flood, please let us know. The museum is open Sundays and Wednesdays, 2-4pm.
